Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words

First off, I am going to begin this by saying that I am a big fan of metal and rock music. Or well bands that you would typically see playing on Vans Warped Tour, yet Megan Thee Stallion had caught my attention when WAP was first released. And I understand that at that point many people had been listening to her for quite some time. Although I will say I was not a big fan at first, but as I have listened to her music I have really enjoyed it. I have recently even bought her album, MEGAN. I also own Good News, but I have listened to her other work through Spotify.

Now this isn’t about her music but instead her recent documentary. Now one thing about me is that I love documentaries and biographies. I love learning about people and their backgrounds because it shows just how human they are. And this documentary has done that. I definitely was not one that knew everything about Megan – yes I had heard about her being shot, but I didn’t know much about it. And this is a big part of the documentary. It is interesting to see how the world turned on her during this time because of her music and lyrics. Her songs, while yes very sexual, have come across as an anthem for women to me. We see men write very sexualized songs about women and what they do to them, but for her, she can’t do that? It’s insane to think about. This documentary though, really opened up my eyes as to what she goes through in Hollywood and with the internet. Plus, it also allowed me to see the struggles that she not only went through but also powered through.

I would highly recommend watching the documentary for everyone especially those that are like me and enjoy them. I will give the documentary a 10/10. It was also interesting to see the usage of animation throughout the documentary. I think that touch showed Megan’s love of anime and that it made it a bit more interesting to watch. So, if you are a fan of Megan Thee Stallion or documentaries, I do think that this is a documentary worth watching.
