An AnMilestone One: LINGUISTIC PRINCIPLES DEMONSTRATED IN THE TWO SELECTIONS

1.1 Linguistic Features

This paper will analyze and critique the usage of language and linguistic principals in the songs “Slaughterhouse” by Motionless In White and “So What” by P!nk.

1.2 Rationale for Selection

Both of these songs happen to be favorites of mine and are done by some of my favorite musicians. “So What” was a favorite song from my childhood while “Slaughterhouse” is a song that has become my favorite within the last year, it originally was not my favorite but over time. I wanted to use two different genres so that it was a bit more interesting. Using these two artists allows me to have a better understanding of linguistics because of my interest in each song. With 14 years between the two songs, the differences between the uses of language were an interesting view to see.
